About Us

We unlock people's lives

At Key to Joy, adults with learning disabilities get the opportunity to flourish. We provide a safe, happy space for our members to be who they are.

From the moment our professional staff and trained volunteers meet them at the door, our members feel at ease. From ease comes talking, laughter and the confidence to take part in life-enhancing activities.

We give members' parents and carers information, advice and unlock their lives by giving them respite and space.

Everyone at Key to Joy is passionate about nurturing our members so they reach their potential and achieve their goals.

Our History

We originally started as the Friday Night Charity with a monthly disco club on a Friday night for adults with learning disabilities. This quickly expanded to other days of the week, where our members could enjoy a range of activities from crafts to lifestyle lessons including cookery.

We also enjoy regular field trips including Marwell Activity Centre.

In 2021 we established residence at the Scout Hut on Highlands road, where you will still find us today, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Due to the success of the charity we managed to secure a second grant from the National Lottery Community Fund. As the club has evolved we spoke to our members and volunteers about what this club means to them. In December 2023 we changed our name to better fit who we are.

Our Trustees

The Trustees over see Key to Joy. They are responsible for ensuring the charity meets it's objectives. They have a range of complimentary background, skills, and experience. The Trustees also work to ensure open and transparent governance, identify priorities, and plan the strategic development of FNC. Very brief information about each trustee is provided below.

I became a Trustee in April 2022. I stepped away from my job as a lawyer to spend more time with my children. Now both at school I wanted to use my skills to support the local community.

I very much enjoy my weekly volunteering sessions with the members & being able to play a wider role in the running of Key to Joy
